Reading is the most important way we learn in school and in life. That’s why we are proud to be joining schools around the world in celebrating International School Library Month.
Organised globally by the International Association of Librarians, this month highlights the value of these amazing spaces, and the hardworking staff and volunteers that make them run. The theme of this year’s event is ‘Fairy Tales and Folk Tales around the World’. You can see what other schools around the world have been doing to celebrate here: https://iasl-online.org/ISLM.
After over a year of remote and blended learning, literacy and reading are as important as ever. That’s why we’re placing an emphasis on literacy and independent reading this year. By strengthening their reading abilities, our students are enabled to succeed in education and their life after school. We’d like to encourage every student to visit the school library and pick out a book of their choice.
We like to include reading and storytelling in our different classes. It was great fun doing storytelling with s'mores in Forest School!
We are excited to recognise this event and to celebrate librarians as we continue to promote the link between literacy, creativity, and academic progress.
