Progression for all
At the Peak Academy we ensure our pupils are well prepared for the next stage of their education, training or employment and attain the relevant qualifications and skills required.
Our learners progress onto a range of further education establishments, apprenticeships, employment or training. These destinations strongly support future career pathways.
We ensure that high quality and impartial careers advice ensures that learners follow study programmes which build on prior attainment and enable them to develop clear, ambitious and realistic plans for their future. Learners understand the options available and are informed about local and national skills required.
A range of providers work with our learners. As appropriate some attend EHCP meetings and we provide discreet independent guidance sessions regarding becoming college, apprenticeship or work-place ready. We work in collaboration with Professional Organisations such as St James’s Wealth Management, Berkley Green and a range of colleges.
We develop personal, social and employability skills through a diverse range of activities and opportunities. We invite impartial advisors to deliver aspects of this. We provide a range of interventions to secure skills ranging from; School challenge activities and personalised mentoring through our Tutor system and Teaching Assistant relationships.
Leaders plan, manage and evaluate study programmes so learners undertake highly individualised and challenging learning that builds on their prior attainment and prepares them very well for future employment.
We offer work experience placements tailored to our pupils’ interests and strengths. We have provided placements in: Carpentry, Motor-mechanics, Catering, Building and Computer Science. Pupils gain great experience and develop confidence through taking part.
“I learned how to do commercial video production using a Drone and this has helped me get onto my future college placement at SGS Berkley Green UTC”. Kieron Year 11
“I enjoyed being involved in fitting kitchens and learned lots of Technical skills. It has helped me towards getting on to a course in carpentry next year”. Jack Year 11
“I gained good experience in working with adults and also learned practical skills such as how to change a tyre. Work Experience helped me to think about what I want to do when I get my qualifications and leave The Peak Academy for my college placement. Jordan Year 11 and Head Boy.
We are proud that our learners leave The Peak Academy confident and well equipped with the skills required to conduct themselves well and thrive within the Post 16 provision of their choice. The ethos of the school and its Values system underpins this transition into adulthood from the moment the young person arrives at The Peak Academy.
