The design and technology department at the Peak is going from strength to strength, with the skills of many students beginning to produce high-quality work in their books and well-made products as outcomes.
At KS3, students design and manufacture a range of products using the design cycle as starting points. This includes bird feeders, rocket cars, personal radios, lamps, boxes, and many other products that will inspire the students.
At KS4, we currently offer BTEC construction level 1 certificate, which allows the students to access the skill base required for entry into that area of interest later on in their life. This course includes developing joinery skills, carpentry skills, and brickwork skills in addition to manufacturing products using those skills.
As we look forward to the development of the DT subject area at The Peak, It is becoming an exciting time with welding and motor vehicle maintenance on the horizon. The enthusiasm of many in the school for this subject area is great to see, and long may it continue.
