English Update 8th November 2018

8 November 2018

Nevis have been reading stave one and the opening of stave two of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”. This week pupils have been examining the character, Scrooge. One pupil commented that Scrooge is described in the novella as “Sharp as a piece of flint” but he really is quite blunt. The depth of analysis with our pupils this week has been very impressive.

Scafell have been reading and analysing “War Photographer” by Carol Ann Duffy this week. They are increasing their independence and annotation skills.

Baystones and Skiddaw have been outstanding this week, they have used skills taught in previous lessons to annotate war poems independently.

Donard have been writing acrostic poems linked to War this week.
