Two topics this term for English, Year 11 will be studying “A Christmas Carol” and all other pupils will be studying poetry, some will be looking at Conflict poetry others different poetry forms.
Nevis have started to read “A Christmas Carol” and have been introduced to the wonderful character, Scrooge. They have gained an insight into life for the rich and poor during Victorian Britain.
Scafell pupils have started working on Conflict poetry from the anthology in preparation for their exams in year 11.
Skiddaw and Baystones have risen to the challenge of annotating and analysing conflict/war poems using techniques that will be used in their GCSE exams.
Helvellyn have been working hard in their Creative Thinking Skills lessons, they have been using a thesaurus to help develop their vocabulary. Some amazing work about an autumn scene today, with one pupil going out and using his senses to describe leaves, bringing them back to class and writing about them.
