We have selected five of our pupils whom we feel would benefit hugely from accessing Equine Therapy. This is taking place weekly in Cheltenham at the RDA located at the Racecourse. The course includes the opportunity to gain qualifications in both caring for horses and riding.
On our first trip the boys learnt about how to groom a horse, how to remove their rugs correctly, how to position yourself around them and how to bed down a stable for them. They all behaved incredibly and represented The Peak Academy wonderfully.
This week, due to the bad weather we weren’t able to access the Racecourse. However, I was able to take the boys to do my own horse instead. They mucked out my stable and put clean water and haylage down for him. Then we brought Jasper in from the field, Ethan wanted to put his headcollar on and lead him in. They all then helped to take off his rugs and give him a nice groom and then put his stable rug back on. Again, their behaviour was impeccable and I was very proud of them.
