Consultation on a proposal to merge The Peak Academy and Greenfield Academy
The proposal by The Peak Academy and Greenfield Academy is to merge the academies to operate as one school referred to as The Peak Academy, a co-educational 10-16 SEMH provision.
The Peak and Greenfield Academy were merged onto the same site in 2012. Both schools are SEMH day provisions and both possess a Schools Unique Reference Number (URN), though they are based in the same location. Greenfield Academy was originally based in Cheltenham. Since the academy appointed a permanent head in June 2014 and changed to sponsor The White Horse Federation in 2015, the vast majority of pupils have been placed on The Peak Academy's roll.
Currently, the school incurs an additional expense to maintain two URNs. Additionally, when Ofsted inspections are facilitated, two independent inspections must be conducted and two separate reports are produced. The school must also operate and maintain two independent school administration packages. Parents and professionals have also expressed confusion over having two academy names on one site.
It is therefore the intent to merge the academies and operate as one school, The Peak Academy, providing a co-educational 10-16 SEMH provision.
